To simplify the installation and setup of the Acquire player with high quality hardware, we have partnered with Seneca Data (senecadata.com) who are able to provide Digital Signage player hardware with our software pre-installed and configured with the latest version using their Maestro service.
Simpy by ordering the hardware and choosing Acquire Player as the software of choice, the software will be pre-installed on a Windows LTSC platform (i.e. Windows designed for devices) so you will receive a player already configured.
In the Acquire Player area of Maestro, simply click 'Install Player'. The player will install for you with the default options set (which are suitable for most purposes and can be changed later if required).
Once installation is complete, you may choose to optionally install any other features for the player. These are not required in most cases of using the Acquire solution and usually are for specific use cases. For example, if you are using the Acquire Player for our Shelf Edge solution, one of the options allows you to install a mini-web server on the player to enable local users to simply use a mobile phone or desktop browser to change products and placement on the shelves - this is not required by most users so should not be installed unless you want that specific feature.
Upon receipt of the player, when you first power it up, the background monitoring, security and management tool Watchdog will automatically start and run the licensing tool. You should purchase a player license subscription from your reseller or directly from Acquire and enter the details provided to login and then license the player. At that time (and/or when first deployed to), the player will then download any updates and apply any specific features based upon your subscription.
You can maintain your players, move licenses between players, remotely support them etc through the Acquire Site Manager tool (included with the Acquire Editor packages).
