Question:
We have Acquire Editor installed on a Virtual Server and notice from time-to-time, Acquire requires licensing, which we cannot do as the licence is already in use. Why does this occur?
Resolution:
If the Network Adaptor is using a Dynamic MAC address in the Hyper-V Settings, you may find this can periodically change and works in a similar fashion to dynamically assigned IP addresses. As this is detected as a change in the system, it prompts the Licence Activation Manager to check the licence but is correctly locked. Please note: Hyper-V Static MAC addresses, may use a pool of addresses to choose from (once the current one expires) and if this is switching between 2 for example, then it would materialise with this problem.
To resolve this, you may consider changing the Network Adaptor to Static in the Advanced Features for the Network Adaptor of Hyper-V Settings, as shown below:
IMPORTANT: although changing this setting should not impact other applications, we take no responsibility for any undesired effects caused by changing the setting and is used at own risk.
