Question:
We use a number of Kiosks that allow users to buy tickets to events, these have been working fine for a number of months. But now we are seeing a message on all of the Kiosks, that CyberBrowser is blocking access when users try to checkout and enter their payment details. We have not made any changes to the hardware, networks and CyberBrowser settings itself. What is causing this?
Resolution:
This an issue which typically affects older versions of Internet Explorer, such as IE8. You should therefore update the browser to the newest version possible, such as IE11 and this should automatically allow websites and settings to correctly managed by CyberBrowser. For users running Windows XP, the latest version you can use is IE8. We have found that secured sites require TLS 1.0 to be enabled. To check, click Tools > Internet Options and Advanced. Ensure this is enabled, Reboot and try again in CyberBrowser. Please note: you may also need to apply Compatibility Mode in older browsers to allow sites to be rendered correctly.
If CyberBrowser is set-up to use a Safe List, you will find that from time-to-time, the address or URL that is used by payment processing companies such as Visa, MasterCard and PayPal can change. When setting an URL for CyberBrowser to manage, it will allow all traffic of the same website domain through. For example if you set, http://www.acquiredigital.com/ then /support or /trial will be automatically accessible to users. However if the website allows transactions to be made, during the process your browser will connect to any number of payment process sites at checkout (typically secured sites) and it is this specific website domain which CyberBrowser blocks if this has changed.
To resolve this the website domain must be added to an approved list of websites known as a Safe List in the CyberBrowser settings. If you are unsure which URL(s) is being blocked a good way of determining this is to look at the logs immediately from the moment you see the site being blocked. You will see site blocked in the logs, which should allow you to create a list and copy these and in to the Safe List and test again. Please note: secured sites, must be entered with the https:// prefix.
IMPORTANT: images and other links, such as Facebook or Twitter icons will also contain links to external websites and you must consider whether to allow access to these on your Kiosk. In which case you may prefer to use a Block List, this blocks access to all listed sites. In either case a .txt is saved in to CyberBrowser folder with the list of URLs and this can be copied across to other Kiosks (which will save time if you are using the full CyberBrowser application, which does not allow you to deploy to multiple Units unlike Acquire Editor with the CyberBrowser App).
