Question:
When using a Safe List to allow a list of approved websites that can be accessed on our Kiosks, we find some websites are being blocked despite being in the Safe List. How can this be resolved?
Resolution:
As this method of using CyberBrowser will only allow websites that are entered in to a Safe List to be accessible, you should, in the first instance you check the Acquire Player logs to see exactly what website(s) is being blocked. This is clearly denoted with, Site NOT Blocked or Site Blocked. For example: 141113|161926|762|CyberBrowser: Site Blocked (WebThread) - https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/merchant|
Once you have determined the website(s) which is being blocked it can be added in to your Safe List.
To do this:
1. In Acquire Editor, open CyberBrowser Settings and click on Site Blocking and Edit..
2. Add the website in to URL: field, Please note: CyberBrowser will allow all sites using the same domain, i.e. acquiredigital.com so anything after / will automatically be allowed. However you MUST specify each secured site, by using https:// in the prefix if you want it be accessible (as shown). Unlike a normal site where you do not have to specify http:// in the Safe List.
3. Click OK to accept any changes, once your Page/Project has been completed it can deployed to the Acquire Player(s).
TIP: due to the way that websites are inter-linked, you may often find that CyberBrowser blocks another URL, when a preceding URL has been input in to a Safe List. For this reason it is a good idea to thoroughly examine a website and all of the URLs, including videos, images and tags (as all are linked to a location) that are contained on the page and update these in to your Safe List and deploy.
