Question:
I often find when deploying an update to my project from a USB Pen Drive it does not always automatically apply the update when plugging it in to an Acquire Player. Why?
Resolution:
If you have determined that Windows Autorun is not causing the issue, which would stop Acquire updating indefinitely. Normally, when you plug in an USB Pen Drive with a deployment on there, you should see the Acquire Player apply the manual deployment, automatically. This process typically takes around 15 - 30 seconds - giving you time to see that it has updated.
If you are unsure whether this has occurred, you can either run it manually again from the Acquire Update folder and double-clicking AcquireDeploy file on the USB Pen Drive or press Escape on the Acquire Player to reveal the Acquire Settings and click Check for Removable Media Updates Now... and the device will be scanned.
TIP: when creating a manual deployment on a USB Pen Drive, please ensure the deployment folder is written to the root of the device and NOT in any sub-folders. This will allow the Acquire Player to apply updates far easier.
