Question:
We have a number of Acquire Player kiosks in use by various clients, it is often reported to use, that Windows does not automatically load after the Kiosk is switched on from the previous day. We have determined that users habitually, simply turn off the power (in other words, do not correctly shutdown). Is there a way we can stop the Automatic Start-up Repair option from appearing?
Resolution:
In the first instance, you should advise the users the system needs to be correctly shutdown to avoid potentially damaging the system - both hardware and software.
You may also disable the Automatic Start-up Repair feature in Windows, so that in the event of the system being powered off incorrectly or system crashes then it will not be stuck displaying this feature.
To do this:
1. You first need to disable UAC (User Access Control in the Control Panel), for the user account that is used to run Acquire Player in the Control Panel. Change the slider to Never notify, please restart the PC.
2. Run CMD.exe using Run as administrator, and type bcdedit /set {default} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures and press Enter. If entered correctly, you will see a message that the operation was complete successfully and you can close the CMD window.
3. If you need to restore this setting, follow steps in 2) and type bcdedit /set {default} bootstatuspolicy displayallfailures and press Enter.
