Question:
When I quit out of System Sentinel and shut down the Acquire Player and later power on again I notice Acquire Player does not load automatically with Windows 8. Why does this occur?
Resolution:
By default, Windows 8 uses a Power Management feature known as Fast Start-up, which is enabled.
This causes a partial hibernation when you Shut down Windows and things like Services are saved to a .sys file. On Start, the .sys is restored in the same state as at the previous Shut down and therefore when you fully Quit System Sentinel or System Watchdog it remains fully closed and the Acquire Player will not start on the next start up.
We recommend that you disable this feature (as well as a normal hibernation), to do this:
1. Open Control Panel and go to Power Management, select Choose what the power buttons does.
2. Disable Turn on fast start-up and click Save changes.
TIP: Alternatively you can Restart Windows and the Acquire Player will load normally thereafter.
