Problem:
I am having problems uninstalling Acquire from my PC, why does it not uninstall?
Resolution:
When our software was developed to work within a Windows Vista environment and especially within the UAC (User Access Control) that is on all Windows Vista PC's we discovered that on earlier Operating Systems the software behaved slightly differently.
Navigate to the Installation folder this is normally located at C:\ProgramData\Acquire. If you are unsure of where the installation folder is right-click on the Acquire Premier or Editor Launch Icon and choose Properties from there select Find Target and this will take you directly to the installation folder on your PC. In this installation folder, locate and delete the unins000.exe.manifest file.
Now you can run the uninstaller from either the Uninstall option on the Start Menu or from the Programs & Features option in Control Panel. If neither of these work attempt to remove it from the Acquire installation folder, locate and run the unins.exe manually. There may be a couple of these depending on whether you have installed the Acquire Player and/or the Acquire Editor. They are differentiated by numbers (e.g. unins000.exe) when you click on them a popup box appears indicating what you are about to uninstall and asking for confirmation.
This uninstaller will by design leave 3 folders on the PC, in the installation folder. acquiredb, codecs and the licence.cbk. Once the process has completed you can easily remove these folders manually if you wish.
TIP: There has been known cases that the Acquire Database Service is still running which may prevent the uninstaller from running, if so simply open the Task Manager and quit the AcquireDB Process. Re-run the uninstall process again.
