Question:
I want to use a custom keyboard, to match the look and feel of my project. I understand there is a feature in Acquire that will allow this, what is it and how can I use it?
Resolution:
Using the Keyboard Editor you are able to create your own custom keyboard designs and implement them in to your Acquire Editor projects.
One useful feature of the Keyboard Editor, is that you can only present the keys or functions - such as Backspace that you want the user to see. Providing further security at a kiosk terminal, where users will only be able to use the keys you have predetermined on a Touch-screen.
To use the Keyboard Editor:
1. Open Acquire Editor and select Apps and Licensing...
2. Please ensure you have already purchased and/or installed the Keyboard Editor App, if so then locate this Apps and Licencing list and select.
3. There are several features in the Keyboard Editor that allow you to create a fully working keyboard and apply a graphic (.png format) file to skin the keyboard in a particular brand or to match the theme of the project.
Above, the first button has been assigned as the F key using the Key Type: Text. However this can also be changed to a Special feature, such as Caps Lock or a Cursor Key function (Up, Down Left or Right) or a Button, such as Browser Back or Print.
Continue to build up the keys as required and click File and Save Keyboard.
Your custom keyboard is ready to use, by simply using the Keyboard App in Acquire Editor and pointing it to the saved keyboard file.
