Question:
Why do I see a Page Not Found when trying to view the content on my Acquire Player?
Resolution:
The reason it is showing is because Acquire Player is attempting to play a Page you have not created, and this is typically caused by one of three things:
1. You have not scheduled anything to play at this moment in time (or the Page(s) scheduled to play cannot play for a reason such as the relevant media is missing).
2. You are using a trigger event (hotspot, jump to page, etc.) which you have either not created a page for, or deleted the page.
3. You are using an external trigger event (e.g. jumping to a page with a matching barcode to the product scanned) and there is no page with that Page ID
In all cases, the Page Not Found will be displayed for a valid reason. You need to decide what you want the Acquire Player to show if one of the reasons shown above happens.
Of course, if you have no external trigger and are just using Acquire Player with scheduled content, the image should show some backup content or your client’s logo.
If you are using it with a trigger event whilst people are interacting with the system, you may want to put an default message to appear, e.g. Sorry a fault has occurred and we are unable to display the requested information. This system will now restart.
If you are using an external trigger such as a barcode scanner or RFID device, you may want to say something like, Sorry we do not have any information about that product.
Page Not Found is a graphic image (which is configurable, e.g. can be replaced with a branded piece image). You can choose to disable the feature, show a graphic image or a page, and you can make your own graphic which is more applicable to the event. Please Note: that if you disable the Page Not Found feature, then if one of the above events occurs the system will instead go to an Out of Order state and restart (the Out of Order graphic can also be changed).
