Issue:
You have a project and you want to copy it so that you can road test some changes to it before making it live without affecting your existing project.
Resolution:
If you only have a small number of pages and only have one Editor PC then you can simply use the Copy Page function in Acquire. Open or Add a new Project within Acquire Editor. If you are creating a new project, you will need to give the project a name in the Project Settings window.
Navigate to the Page List for the project and select the Manage Pages.
Click the arrow next to Copy and choose Page from Project:
Select the project from which you want copy pages from:
Choose the page(s) you want to copy and click OK. It is possible to select multiple item at once, using the Ctrl + left click on each page or item required. Depending on how your database and media is setup it may be required to copy the media too.
If you see a Missing Media window, select Yes to allow the media to be made available in the copied project folder.
Tip: it is possible before copying the pages over to the new project, to set the Project Settings to be identical to the existing project. In terms of the media, helpers and scripts folders. That way the media as well as helpers and scripts are already generated and do not need to be copied and stored on the hard drive in two locations. Thus saving disk space, particularly useful if you are managing large files such as video.
You can of course copy the folder locally from the existing project folder to the new copy folder if you are planning to make some changes to the helpers and scripts, etc. in the changes you are wanting to make or test.
You can now make changes to the project, add remove test without affecting the live project that is on your system.
