Question:
As I am upgrading my PC to a new one, is this possible to use my Acquire software on the new system?
Resolution:
Yes. However as the Licence Key is tied to Hardware when it is first installed you have to deactivate the current licence before you can reinstall and activate the software on the new PC. Please note: it is important to always deactivate existing Acquire software first to avoid activation problems later.
To do this:
1. Click Start > All Programs > Acquire > Licence Activation Manager and click Yes on the User Account Control.
2. Select the software you want to deactivate and click De-Activate Licence.
3. To complete deactivation, you can either do this Automatically over the Internet, Manually via the Activation Website or By Telephone. We recommend you select to deactivate using Automatically over the Internet, if you are not currently connected to to the Internet please use one of the other options. IMPORTANT: you must ensure you are connected to the Internet using the same network connection method when the licence was activated, e.g. Ethernet or Wi-Fi as the Machine ID will be related to the MAC address and will use the same information to complete deactivation.
4. The software will now be deactivated, click OK once this has been completed and restart your computer. Your licence has now been deactivated and may be used elsewhere.
Please note: you will need to activate the software after installation has completed, for more information see: How To Manually Install An Acquire Licence Using A Licence Key.
IMPORTANT: If you are upgrading to Windows 10 from a previous Windows Operating System or are installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or Windows 10 November update or Windows 10 Creators Update please deactivate your licence first, as this is likely to result in the licence becoming locked and could result in an Admin charge to release.
Additionally this process is also required if you upgrade or replace the HDD, Motherboard or Network Card on the PC.
