Question:
Can I recover a lost project, back to my Acquire Editor PC which has suffered from HDD failure and were not backed-up by doing a manual deployment?
Resolution:
You may able to recover the projects from the Player, but first you will need to install Acquire Editor on to the Player. Sometimes Acquire Editor may get installed into a separate folder, so both scenarios are explained.
Once installed, locate the AcquireDeploy.exe within the Acquire folder - typically this can be found in: C:\ProgramData\Acquire (please note: the default setting for ProgramData is set to hidden and you may need to unhide this folder before you can access it).
Double-click AcquireDeploy.exe and allow it to run through the deployment process. Check to see if the required project is available in Acquire Editor.
If the project is still not showing look at your C:\ProgramData\Acquire again and see if you have an Acquire and Acquire 2 folder installed, if so you will need to press Ctrl, Shift & Esc buttons to open your Task Manager. On the Processes tab select the Show processes for all users and you should see then see the AcquireDBService.exe. Select this and then End Process.
If you cannot see it here it may because you do not have full Administration rights, in which case go to Start > Run and type in services.msc and select OK.
This will open the Services window, select Acquire Database Engine and select Stop the service
Go into the C:\ProgramData\Acquire folder and locate the folder acquiredb. Double-click to open the folder an inside here there is another folder called data, within which you will find the acquire.adb file. Copy this file, replacing the one in C:\ProgramData\Acquire2\acquiredb\data.
Close all folders and re-open Acquire Editor, your projects should be available.
TIP: you may need to restart the Acquire Database Engine, if so please follow above steps again but choose Restart the service.
